Corinth Canal – Nemea Region – Nafplio (8hrs)

Your private tour starts from your hotel in Athens or your cruise ship and drive to the magnificent structure of the Corinth Canal, which is in Peloponnese, the southern peninsula of Greece. The Corinth Canal conects the Saronic with the Corinthian Gulf in the Aegean Sea.

Then, we will drive towards to ancient Nemea ,the place that Hercules killed the Nemean Lion on one of his famous tasks. Nemea town in Argolis is famous for two things.

Firstly The Nemean Games, which were famous in the antiquity, almost as the Olympic Games of Athens. The Nemean Games were taking place to honor Zeus with gymnastics and musical activities. Secondly its wineries and the varieties of wines. There, you will be able to try the local red wine, “Agiorgitiko” , “the grapes of St. George”,”Boutari” and much more quality wines with rich flavors if you wish.

After that wine tasting experience we will leave Nemea or ”wine region of Greece” and drive towards Nafplion, the first modern Capital of Greece from 1821 till 1834. You will see the Castle of the city, Palamidi that’s over the town as well as Mpourtzi the island fortress, the first defence line of the port. A wonderfull seaside place, ideal for some walking and taste the famous Greek cuisine and have a memorable lunch in a traditional restaurant or tavern .There you can see the old houses of the Nafplion, as well as the local shops that sell handmade objects and jewelry for all tastes and budgets.

Finally, it is time to return back to Athens or to your cruise ship.
